We are building a mobile personal social concierge – an app that helps users discover things to do and make plans with friends from right within the app. (Demo: scoreoff.com/headout) We are not building another events-listing app and we are not trying to make the calendar more social. The best way to describe it is a Flipboard+Whatsapp for social planning – the flipboard-like interface for natural discovery and the messaging app-like features for easy planning. Each user will see things relevant to them based on their location, past choices, and preferences. The recommendations of “things to do” will also mimic the way people actually spend their free time. That means less focus on ticketed events and more focus on things like restaurant food festivals, museum exhibitions, trivia nights, ideas for planning something at home, and other “non-events”.
