IoT and smart cities

About

Today's IoT propositions are based of WiFi, BT and other existing wireless technologies. Take for instance the much talked about area of smart homes. Imagine having 10-20 sensors in the house and having WiFi/BT built into each of them - the hardware cost would not be practical and using "HTTP" by these devices would clog the Internet. Here is my focus: ** IoT based on a new technology called "6LoWPAN", which eases hardware requirements and software stacks (smaller packet sizes). ** Make the hardware + software bundle realistic in terms of price, size and ease of adoption. Deploy this technology into various gadgets like AC, TV, refrigerator, fire alarms, security cameras, smart electric meters, etc. through OEMs. ** Build a home 6LoWPAN network of IoT devices that attaches seamlessly to existing home internet to go outside the house. It piggy backs on the existing internet infrastructure. ** Extend this idea into many connected homes/buildings and eventually to connected cities.
